Republican Candidate for CU Regent - CD2
Dick Murphy is seeking the position as CU Regent in an effort to ensure higher education is affordable, accessible, and responsible to it’s core purpose of educating without bias or discrimination for ALL students.
Dick Murphy is an economist and long time Boulder County resident who has assisted Colorado’s government and education sphere since the 1970’s, whether it be financial consulting to the state treasury or working as a CFO for the Boulder Valley School District.
The CU Board of Regents oversees the four-campus CU System — the third largest employer in the state — and its $5 billion budget. The Board of Regents consists of nine members, one elected from each of Colorado’s seven congressional districts and two elected statewide. The Regents are constitutionally charged with general supervision of the University and the control and direction of all funds and appropriations, they hire the University’s President and other top University officials, and they set tuition and policies. All registered voters in Congressional District 2 can vote to elect Dick Murphy to serve on the Board of Regents. For more information about Regents, click here.
Dick and his wife Valarie have been married for 47 years. They have five children and eight grandchildren.
When Dick isn’t out fighting and defending the freedoms of our great Constitutional Republic, he is spending time with his family and his dogs.
